Ignition Timing Marks

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Pict, Apr 4, 2012.

  1. Without the benefit of freakishly far apart eyes and three hands, it looks to me like each mark irepresents 2 degrees. This may or may not be backed up by the fact that there is 2 (degree sign) cast on the plate.

    Does anyone know?

  2. Haven't actually measured this with a degree wheel but it seems to be universal knowledge that each mark is 2 degrees.

    So that's a yes, then.

I retarded mine one and a half marks and all was well. ..... although when I returned timing to standard before fitting and subsequently un-fitting an Ignitech the bike still doesn't pink (according to my ears, anyway).

I do think that the motor is smoother at town speeds with timing as standard, which is why I'll persevere with the Ignitech, if they ever send it back to me.
