Hi Just seen a post on FB where somebody's 748 spontaneously combusted after a ride. What causes this and how do you avoid it? Thanks
George I correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're asking two questions? To answer the bursting in to fire question, one cause can be a blow back through the intake manifold and there is a over trumpet sock type of air filter and the filter catches fire on the inside and smoulders until it finally catches. After all the fuel is injected in to the engine just below the air filter so the probabity of combustion outside the engine is not impossible. Now to the second question, it looks like the cable has be chaffing on the edge of the back plate to the heat sink, also the cables look tight to me which wouldn't be helping matters. I think a visit to the Electrex web site is in order.
