1098 Inspection Cover Leak?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Ash34, Sep 15, 2017.

  1. I've got a very slow oil leak / seepage from the inspection cover (part 19 in the image) on my bike.

    Anybody else experienced this?

  2. Yeah easy fix mate, just drain the oil remove the plate , there a face fit with a smear of 3 bond. Job done. :upyeah:

  3. I've read in the service manual about using the threebond as a gasket, however when MotoRapido first serviced mine, they used a metal gasket. Maybe the threebond was replaced with the later gasket?
I serviced mine recently with the gasket and it's fine, no leaks.
    Part number is: 78810651A

  4. Amazing. It's not shown in the parts manual.

  5. Yea I didn't see it in the parts manual either, however, it is mentioned in the 1098R Bayliss service manual (part 7)

  6. My bike doesn't even have a gasket there and has been seeping oil all year. I've ordered the gasket and hope to be taking it with me on Friday evening when I head home for some practice this weekend.

  7. I'd love to get hold of a copy of that service manual.
