Instruments Gone Crazy!

  1. Hi everyone.

My bike is a 2003 Monster 620ie, and I'd really appreciate any advice on an issue I have with my clocks.

From when I first bought it, the tacho would occasionally 'jam' at about 3,000 rpm, and remain there whether the bike was running or not.

I learned to fix this by following the sequence: - ignition on - kill switch off - ignition off - kill switch on - ignition on - hey presto, normal service resumed.

Since my rebuild (complete strip), the electronic speedo has joined the party too. At first it just would not zero, so I had to manually tap it until the needle zeroed. But not it has lost the plot completely, at speed it just does constant slow backward sweeps right around the dial... like a clock running backwards.

I tried switching the ignition off and back on while the bike was moving - didn't help.

The tacho is failing to zero again too, and now I can't get it to respond to my secret sequence above.

As the clock unit was carefully removed, stored and just as carefully replaced I can't believe it's broken... is there any kind or re-set sequence I need to be aware of?

    Cheers,

    Paul
