Hi guys, Today I realised I did not receive any insurance renewal and it expires Monday so gave call to insurance company. Now they said they did not quote me as my premium went up to stupid levels after last incident that was settled to 9k against me. Now when I spoke to insurance company in January 2012 I was told there is no claim against me they know off after December incident. When I changed houses in June all was fine there as well my premium went down due to change to better area. But now in September there is this claim that is already settled! They never asked me for any other paperwork they just settled a claim. Police attended the scene so they can confirm Mr Taxi driver was alone in car, I have pictures of the car where damage is visible and is not near 9k (dent in boot from my head). It is clear he did personal injury claim but if they contacted me they would know he was scamming them as no way he would have any damage from bike sliding under car at 20mph and stopping at bumper. There would also be no damage from me but-heading rear of car at 20mph. By law do I have to be informed there is a claim against me so I can defend my self? By law do I have to be informed of the outcome? I was never informed about anything, not even that they are having a claim and from whom? No one asked me for details of accident or anything bar first general incident form. Help as quote I am getting is well over 2k now.
Need to add that initial incident form was filled in as a bloke from insurance company showed at my home to get form filled in as they never got mine. Unless he conned me that is as he said he is from my insurance company, had business card and their branded claim form.
If an incident is not settled, they will have an outstanding notice it cold be against you, so that will count like a large claim even if it isnt, if that makes sense
Actually do not get it. Do you mean as it is on-going case they assume I will loose huge and quote accordingly? That one I am to blame but saying that I hit a car with my head and made a dent size of pumpkin. No way pay-out is going to be near 9k unless they inflated costs hugely. Also not possible for PI claim as 100kg hitting 1.5t will not create personal injury to driver like whiplash or something. Bike never hit the car with any real force. It made no damage to car at all as it skid under it and possibly scratched bumper at best. Bike had cosmetic damage only, front sub-frame and panels mainly. When sub frame was off it was all usable.
Bradders I also have no claims bonus insurance which in essence insurance company from 1 claim a year. That should count for something?
Yes thats exactly what I mean. They will assume a massive personal injury claim, for potentially 5 years (I think thats the claim deadline). Blame the ambulance chasing scum !!
