Is A Brembo Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild Possible At Home ?

  1. I have fitted a new rear brake caliper to my (1st generation) Multistrada and after a first attempt with Bilt Hammer wheel cleaner, it looks a lot better than I expected, I’m minded to try and carry out a full rebuild myself.

Is it as simple as undoing and removing the two bolts securing the two halves of the casting or is it more complicated ? I have found a supplier for a piston and seal kit but will I need to source anything else ? Thank you in advance. Andy

  3. Just ordered the kit from Powerhouse Automotive, £26. Andy

  4. @Sev, just thought of one more thing, what torque will you use on the bolts ? I’m guessing in the order of 20Nm ? Andy

  5. Use red "Red Rubber" lube (Girling or whatever make you have) on the pistons/seals when reassembling the calipers.
