It’s All About The Vibe Man

  1. I have Raynauds Syndrome. This means my hands are very sensitive to vibrations and cold. It has led to me selling most of my existing bikes this year. Including. All. Yes all. Of my Ducati’s.
I now have an R9 but feel the need to supplement it with a thousand. I have previously owned all the Ducati superbike configurations. Plus s1000rr, Tuono v4 Factory and various gixers.
    I am thinking:-

    R1
    2025 Fireblade
    Gixer thou

Anyone owned all three and can comment on vibrations through the bars - ranking would be helpful.

    Cheers

  2. Can't comment on your bike list, but did you try filling the bars with silicone? (And if not, it can only help) :upyeah:

  3. I believe it is called Reinhard Syndrome and I play golf with a number of sufferers so feel for you because it is very debilitating.
Stay warm my friend and may the Summer come around again quickly.

  4. Yeah. Worst was street triple moto2 with pretend clipons. Then s1000rr. Then v2 Pani. 749r I can’t remember but it’s a torture machine anyway. All the above left my right hand numb after 15-20 minutes. Gixer good for 200 miles in a day, 100 morning, 100 pm. R9 is great.tried weighting bars etc etc. Heated gloves help for a bit.

  5. I get terrible numbness in my hands on certain bikes, my Mt09 being the worst for it. I’ve had a few R1s and they never gave me any bother and nor have any of my Gsxrs, in fact my Gsxr1000 K9 is the most comfortable bike I’ve ever had. I guess you are looking at the latest generations of these bikes though so my experience of older models is probably not very useful.

  6. My last gixer was a k5 so no, open minded.

  7. Ah ok, worth trying a k8 or k9 then , I found them equally good on my hands.

  8. Sorry to hear about your predicament.
From an engineering point of view, a V4 or flat six will give minimal primary and secondary vibrations
I found R1 to be smooth too
Ergonomically maybe something with less weight on the hands

  9. What flat six bikes can u get?

Just Googled and there are some, like a Honda Goldwing and I never knew that as I thought that they were flat fours. Every day is a learning day!

  10. I have other medical issues that mean sports bikes are by far the most comfortable for me. It’s complicated.

  11. New GSXR1000, easy, or Pikes Peak with heated grips
I know not the same, but I've had carpel tunnel on both my wrists, I could only do about 10 mins on track before numb hands, I found Progrip dual density grips and a cool weather type race glove, I've got Held goretex, not sure of model, but have layers of material on the palm and fingers so give a bit of vibe suspression, obviously some feeling lost on the grip/ levers as they are not a single layer of leather, but found it really helped.
Unlike you I was lucky and could have both mine operated on so now sorted, sorry you've had to get rid of bikes because of it, that's shit.

  12. This is true. I owned a ZX7r which gave me pins and needles in hands and feet after an hour run or so. Some time later I owned a GSX 750r which was a lot smoother. 748/996 smooth engine apart from tick over. Have you considered an in line 3?

  13. I have an inline 3. The R9. It’s great. The 765 street triple il3 was the worst of all though so I had to sell it.

  14. I found the 675 ok, maybe not the midrange you're looking for?

  15. 675 street triple has rubber mounted bars and is fine. But I am after a litre sports bike only.

  16. My GSXR 750 K4 wasn't too bad for an in line 4, see if you can get a test ride on a Gixer 1000.

  17. Gixer thousand is pretty good. That’s why it’s on my list.

  18. Go for it see if it "suits you sir".

  19. My 675 St is excellent, rode to iom with no bar vibe at all could ride it all day, both my ducs are fine too. Worst bike of mine was zx10r , numb hands after 20 miles, absolutely the worst bike for vibes was a demo bmw s1000rr 2015, 10 miles in had to take it back after numb hands and feet.
