The boat market is quite buoyant too. Here's one in Vietnam.

  3. Porsche 911 GT3 996 models from 2003 were £39995 new, and go for over £70k now with 40k miles. Stunning drive but really crazy prices.

  6. returns on cash in the bank are crap, markets are seemingly not giving good returns (or so the pensions feckers who hold my retirement funds say). I guess it is people with a bit of wedge looking for alternative ways of getting good returns on their cash, and maybe enjoying it a wee bit, too? I am sure I read something about this sort of phenomena last time the classic/collectible vehicle market went mad.

  8. Yeah, I remember when the humble Stag topped out at 30K in the early 90's, but I also remember a lot of folk bombed when the market collapsed. A friend of my dad's paid massive money for a mid 70's air cooled Porsche, and in 1991 sold it for a 3rd of what he had paid when the bubble burst. The worst thing is, it will burst again, and more folk will get financially skinned who have joined the party late.

  9. For myself, having been leached off by my child for most of her life :D I now find I have spare cash for toys, in the words of L’Oréal, Because I'm worth it.

  12. Yep, it'll happen again and bikes will not be exempt. Some of the prices 2nd hand bikes are advertised for now are unrealistic. and the bubble will burst.

I've always said, watch the market, buy them at the right money, get a good one and above all, buy it as a bike to enjoy as a bike, not to watch the pennies.
