I think they've lost their touch. People wouldn't be looking at it twice if it wasn't "the John Lewis Christmas ad". The ones from a couple of years ago were emotional, this is just fun and a little odd.

SWMBO received an email from John Lewis promoting the advert, otherwise I'd not have known about it. So if thousands of other people got the same email then no wonder it's their most successful advert to date (I'm assuming in viewing numbers rather than sales generated)
Haha! Views on YouTube! With the way most of us watch tv these days that is probably the only way to watch ads..... and people are going to watch it if it is so hyped (watching and liking can't be linked though). It is a damp squib and doesn't stir that emotional want to spend more than you should on people because of how precious they are like their last efforts....
When I posted this thread at 12.30pm it had had approximately 43.5k views on YouTube. A minute ago that figure was 3.1m views!
You still watched it though and now John Lewis is lodged in the back of your mind. The ad campaign has worked
no mate,,, when an advert comes on i turn it off,,, have missed ( i am sure ) many a good vid because of that,, but hey,, you gotta have prisipalls ..
It didn't touch me, it didn't make me think about loved ones, it didn't make me want to buy them nice things, and it doesn't put JL any nearer the top of my list of shops. If anything it has started to put me off JL....
