Its that time again even though im not going anywhere, i hadnt changed the belts from may 17, and iv only done 640 miles on them, but being bored iv replaced them and the oil.
There are two bolts you remove at the cams that allow dowels to be inserted that lock the cams in place.....if these arnt replaced and you start the bike the oil will pish out onto the floor.......go on ask how i know this.
Nice..!, does that tensioner look a little rusty? How do you set the right tension, have you got one of the frequency measuring thingys?
Not really rusty, but discoloured if ya know what i mean, no i always guesstimate the tension. Always in the ballpark.
Too slack and it could flap and too tight it will wear quickly, so it,s knowing that sweet spot I imagine. Is the 45 degree thing just done with your fingers? The most you can twist the belt on the longer part between the top wheel and the tensioner?
Yes, longest run 45 degree twist with fingers (for a car it's 90 degrees as the run is longer) that will be in the right ball park, if you want you can then check with various methods such as 5mm allen key and guitar tuners
First time you do it you'll be paranoid so double check with other methods to satisfy yourself - you tube can be your friend
