Hi all, I'm looking at a 996 that's for sale near me. It's got a rev counter needle that jumps around a bit, especially at idle. Is this a common issue or likely an easy fix? I'm likely to have lots more questions if this fits ahead! Cheers, Jm
Not very but an easy fix and a great bargaining point. Measure the voltage output across the battery at around 2krpm...should be around 14V..if not, the regulator/rectifier could be knackered.
Great, cheers gents. Think I'll start another thread with all of my other questions... I normally hang out in the Pani and Hyper forums. You guys are lightening quick compared with then!
I had a jumpy tach The plug on the rectifier can also get dirty causing a weak contact , and an old battery does not help I removed the plug on mine and soldered the wires to ensure I have maximum conductivity , solved the issue
