1200 DVT Keep The 848 Or Trade In?

  1. Finally decided to go for a 2016 Multi to do more touring and two up riding. Problem is, I love my 848 and every time I go out on it I think to myself, can a multi do this?
Has anyone traded in a 848 / superbike for a multi and if so, can the multi do the twisty bits nearly as well?

  2. Of course they can, but thyre very different to an 848

  3. Multi's do everything pretty dam well in my view

  4. Yes, I had a very well sorted 848, ohlins everywhere

Multi is fine. No where near as exciting, but as quick in 90% of occasions, and more comfy in 100% of occasions lol

Done trackdays, fast group, no problem

  5. Yep, I guess it's got to be done. Just hope the 848 devalues so much over the winter that it's not worth the trade in and I'll have to keep it...

  6. 1098s to Multi in 2010. Never looked back, but I was 51 so age may come into it?

  7. Surely better to keep it if you can afford deposit on multi and then sell privately if you find the 848 redundant? Win win.

  8. I did exactly that. I've ridden Sportsbikes for the last 12 years, toured in Europe on them, Sunday rides, commuting and all that. I too loved my 848, but I needed a more all round bike. I am in my 50's, so the riding position on the 848, whilst great when you were charging about A roads, was becoming a pain, in heavy traffic, and on the bumpy sheep strewn roads I use around Yorkshire. IMO, the DVT is just as fast on real roads as the 848, especially when you get tired, the roads get wet, or gravel strewn. I'm just back from a 1000mile round trip in Scotland, and the DVT was just great (apart from the shit fuel gauge and resetting trips!). The cruise control is just fantastic. What do I miss about my 848, well it was a beautiful looking bike, and the Multi is not (imo)..

  9. Sorry for delayed reply - out of country etc., etc.
Exactly my situation, similar age, cool roads in the north east and been down to the alps on the 848 enjoying every second even though the neck did complain a couple of times. I think I will go for a DVT for all the above reasons listed by Scaraman, but will not steal off to the garage occasionally with a tasty beverage to just look at it..
And for me, that's important - the DVT is many things, but not in the same league of garage art porn as the 848. Bikes that look cool are much more satisfying to ride - that's what Ducati think anyway - so why can't they make the DVT look as horny as the 848?
Bottom line is that I like the thought of riding the DVT but can't get excited about looking at it.
    Bummer.

  10. Keep it, only sensible option ;)

  11. My conclusion also
