I did a 100 MTB event around Kielder on a brand new bike, it was murdered by the end. The soil up there is like cutting paste very coarse paste. I seem to recall when the RAC rally went there it was nicknamed ‘Killer Kielder’.
Sadly it’s no longer, was a real challenge, I’d say the hardest I’ve tackled. The goddamned midges......
We go all year round but I do prefer the winter as the midges can be a problem. I’ve been deer stalking deep in the forest and once they start biting its horrendous.
