Thinking of selling my 1098s and getting a V2 but I wondered if anybody may know whether the paint has a lacquer finish or is it unlacquered like the 899. Having owned one of these, I was very disappointed how many chips I got on the bike compared to other Ducatis that I've owned in the past. Thanks in advance.
Just get it lacquered, keep that in mind when buying. Get a discount. Complete body kit lacquered £300-500? Cheers.
it's not, and the paint is fairly easy to damage around the tank, there is a ridge in the tank shape that runs along the bottom and the paint is really thin there, mine has started to rub in only 1k miles.
Thanks all for the replies - hmmmm as I suspected. I can honestly do without cruise control, heated grips and a fuel gauge but the lack of lacquer protection compared to the V4 to me is a bit of an own goal.
Must be a one off I think……my old one was fine even after 3000 miles I’m not saying that you shouldn’t complain though. In fact you definitely should (unless you wear sandpaper jeans of course )
This is a real shortfall for a premium priced premium bike. Unfortunately, I've rewarded them in their decision by buying a Streetfighter V2, which I am planning to get PPF'd.
Yeah, I think on balance, I do where textiles so could easily have been a section of the inside of them rubbing, so could well be a one off. The only quality issue I really had a big issue with (and outside of this thread) is the quality of the bolts etc.
It could be the textiles then. I only ever wear full leathers or leather jeans on my sports bikes. Textiles are only used on the scrambler. But only when it’s cold and/or wet.
