Hi guys was out on my 848 evo today and got caught in the most horrendous rain storm for an 40 mins, roads flashed flooded in minutes and both me and the bike got drenched. Got home and bike running fine no warning lights so I gave it a hose down to get crap off from roads then let it tick over for a bit to dry everything off. Quite a lot of steam coming from the cans and up through the cockpit area steaming up the screen etc but soon stopped after 5 mins ticking over but then I got the orange engine light come on and the error code lamb 6.1 popped up, now when I start it up the light comes after about 5 seconds. Im guessing somethings wet that shouldn't be, hoping it will dry out. Any ideas ?
if it is running ok i would suspect the post cat lamda sensor has water in the plug or the wiering is damaged or indeed just faulty. no idea if drying out would reset the light or not. sometimes several fault free drive cycles will reset a MIL light. but i guess the error would remain logged untll removed using a diag tool.
Thanks, I have a OBD reader so I might be able to clear the code, do you know if the port for the OBD is the one under the seat cowl. Actually doubt it will work as its a car one so probably a different size connector
Happy days, took bike for a spin to see what it would do and light went out and fault cleared 100 yds down the road, did about 10 miles on it with no problems so hopefully be ok now..
Prevention is better than a cure. Get some dielectric grease, open up any exposed connectors, as well as any others you can reach, and apply liberally before closing them up again.
Thanks will do that, typically I have just switched ignition on to check to see if it's still off and the bloody light and code is back. I expect it will clear again soon as I ride it : /
