1198 Lambda Sensors Disabled: Damage To Oem Exhaust?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by luke1198, Oct 13, 2019.

  1. What happens if one disables the lambda sensors (O2 sensors) in the ECU firmware on a 1198 model with OEM exhaust?
    1. Will the catalytic converter get damaged?
    2. Will the lambda sensors get damaged?
    3. Will my bike still pass the next exhaust gas inspection if I restore the original ECU image shortly before?

I am asking this because recently I played around with different ECU images, and noticed that an image with disabled lambda sensors solved the "choppy throttle at low speed" problem that many have cited, for example here:

I am therefore tempted to use a stock ECU image and set those lambda bits to zero.
