I've recently had a fuel level sensor replaced on my 1260s multi, and while it was in the dealership they said the recent engine warning light that was on the dash was because of the vertical lambda sensor. They've quoted £255 for doing the job. My bike has the original exhaust box decatted and a stubby termi can. Its been fettled to smooth out the running and clear the exhaust popping that came with the decatting etc. This was done last year. Do I still need the lambda sensor? And would this change the airflow remapping that was done to smooth it out? The Ducati tech said it should still run ok without it being changed. So should I just live with having an engine fault on the dash?
You say it's been "fettled", by that do you mean the ECU has been flashed or you have used some proprietary software to tweak it ? I would expect that the Lambda sensors would have been disconnected/deleted to avoid the conflict. Andy
I had it tuned by this guy https://www.daytuner.co.uk/ He adjusted the airflows, that's all I know lol but it runs beautifully now. I think he has his own software to do it
Not sure whether he would have bypassed the lambda sensors or not. Maybe worth a phonecall to ask that question. If yes, no point in replacing the duff one if no, you may have to. Andy
If you have gone to the effort of decatting the exhaust, why leave the Lambdas in place? Ideally the ECU needs remapping to adjust the fuelling to suit the open exhaust. At the same time the lambda (and the EXBV if fitted) can be disabled and removed. In the interim invest in some Lambda Eliminators which will cost significantly less than replacing a single Lambda. You will also need some Lambda bungs. EBay is your friend.
I'm just waiting to hear back from daytuner performance to see how he's mapped it before removing the lamda. The Exbv has already been disabled with the healtech eliminator.
