748 Large Air Tubes

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by cookster, Mar 13, 2015.

  1. hi guys, does anyone know if you fit larger air tubes whether you have to change the airbox as well?? i know you have to change the nose cone for the larger air ducts but not sure about the airbox, will it pay off to fit them to my 748/853 project or will it have no effect? thinking it could run to lean?? cheers for any info..

  2. there are a variety of air tubes available with a variety of differences both ends. you need to find what suits your set up best.....

when you have fitted what you want to, then get it set up properly on a dyno then it won't run lean....or rich!

  3. Can't see it making any difference really, the amount of extra air your 853 will be needing wouldn't exceed that used by a 996 which runs on standard air tubes. Just my opinion, not an expert.
My 853 with gas flowed heads runs fine with standard sized tubes.

  4. The hassle to fit larger tubes isn't worth in my opinion. I have them on mine but doubt it made any difference at all, and involved cutting the fairing and the inlets to the airbox as I took the RS big airbox off and fitted 748R bits

  6. I have QB Carbon ones fitted to my standard Air Box and they fit fine. Use BMC Filters with them. Have the race nose cone with bigger vents

  7. Likewise I have the QB 'large' airtubes.

They are no larger at the airbox fitting but are generally bigger and also wider at the front. I cut the fairing openings to give a bigger opening, don't know if they make any difference.
