Hi, I recall maybe Nelson or some other helpful person pointing to a cheap LED replacement indicator relay some time ago. I don't suppose anybody can help? Was trying to use the forum search function, but can't find it (a bit like the relay I bought a year or so ago and put "somewhere safe"). Thanks in advance, Pete
Hi , IIRC it was this. Module CF13 Fix LED Signal Light 3 Pin Electronic Flasher Relay Error FAST Flash | eBay or similar. Can't remember if the pin out was an exact match or I made up a couple of little leads to cross over. Good cheap fix, better than sticking in load resistors.
I sold a Rizoma one to a guy on the old forum years back it was a spare I had. I agree with Nelson resistors waste power and only get hot and melt things. I only use resistors if the flash function is built into the dash as on the later bikes John
Thanks Nelson - ordered another so hopefully arrive in time for me to get the bike back on the road after a few business trips out the way. Hi Jock - I agree, resistors are a waste of power and just bring in more variability in the whole of the reliability of the system.
Got the relay at last (from somewhere in the Far East), and now faced with 2 pin to 3 pin conversion. My simple view is that the third pin is just for ground connection (shown on the new relay as pin 31), with 49 connecting to incoming live and 49a out to indicator switch. Will upload photos once I figure how to get photos from iPhone to ipad. If anybody has come across this on the 748/916/996/998, and the had to do same/similar, can you confirm or correct, please (struggling to find my workshop manual, only seem to find owners manuals). Cheers, Pete
Cannot say for certain but in my experience the third wire is always a ground in all the relays I've come across. Its funny as usually the 3 wire type are the ones supplied now and its older bikes that had the 2 wire. But bollocks who cares as long as it works John
On Japanese units the 3rd wire is usually to ground but on the European units the 3rd wire is to the warning light.
