Out and about this morning and heard a couple of rumours. Leo Vinci are in the process of ceasing trading which could explain the lack of stock in the UK and that Ducati will be using Akrapovic systems in the near future which leaves Termignoni under a cloud. Anyone else heard anything along these lines ? Andy
Yep, exactly that mate. Ducati want to use akrapovic because Audi use them, and Leo Vince seem to have gone bust :-(
That's a shame, termigoni have been synonymous with Ducati for a long time. Fortunately akrapovic are fantastic quality (as they were when they were scorpion)
Eh? They have never been the Same company... There was just a copyright issue because there logos were similar
Never had a leo Vince pipe before....wouldn't be in my list if ever I needed one....never liked the design of any of them...
Nope, just have a long standing technical partnership I think. I believe termignoni make all the standard pipes as well (or did) so that's sure going to be the end for Termignoni because they have been rumoured to be struggling anyways.
History[edit] Akrapovič was established in 1990 as "Skorpion in Scorpion" by Slovenian racer Igor Akrapovič who had found that during his racing career there was a distinct lack of high-quality exhaust systems on the market to the public.[9] He believed that the pipe walls were either excessively thick or that the technically superior exhaust systems were too expensive and difficult for the average customer to obtain.[9] He designed his own exhaust system, which was sufficient to his requirements, based on the experience gained in the field of motorcycle tuning. Steel was replaced with materials such as carbon fibre and titanium.[9]
I've got scorpion cans and link pipes on the Ducati, must say they are very good quality cans, love them
