Loctite

  1. Am changing my discs on a 748 as have a slight warp
What loctite should I use on the disc mounting bolts? A little confused by the different numbers of 'blue' and not sure when to use which?
Also does it affect torque settings or just torque as normal?

  2. Loctite 242 would be fine and if you are using std fixings then normal torque figures are ok but don't repeatedly check figure with Torque wrench.

  3. As Chris says, 242........if not, 243..........However I spoke to Loctite Technical only last week because I was fitting brake discs and had run out of 243......apparently 641 is OK as well, although a bit runnier.

Also, Sev may be able to confirm this, but apparently at McClaren F1 there is a guy in the race team they all call 'Mr 648', because he won't use anything else...............although I wouldn't use it on brake disc bolts.

    AL.

  4. I like to use 222 on them. 270 if you never want to take them off.
