Long Time Forum Stalker But Finally Bought One So Hello

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Ebbs73, May 6, 2018.

  1. Good evening

I've been lurking in the background for some time now , finally picked up a 848 today .

My names Chris , 45 , a gas engineer and live in Peterborough Cambs .
I have a few bikes and I love them all so I'm hoping I do the 848.
I go to Europe for a couple of races each year , toured a lot , 2 elephant rally's one of those on a c90 .
Really enjoy all aspects of biking , riding , socialising , drinking etc .
Please get ready for loads of possible stupid questions .
I like to work on all my bIkes , happy being dirty but will need to learn about the duc , looking at it so far it seems a bit daunting .
Once I work out how to post pics I shall .
I'd like to get involved with the forum and meet who I can , local rides , meets and possibly a BBQ in June ?
Anyone local give me a shout and I'll bore you with my bike tales as all my friends are now bored !

I look forward to being part of the forum .

    Cheers Chris

Edited for stupid mistakes typing in the dark !

  3. Welcome Chris, my eyes are literally hurting from today's & tonight's driving work. These HID bulbs & fucking automatic light selection & adaptive headlamps that shine up on one side. Are really pissing me off been as I use the motorways quite a lot.

  4. Hello and welcome Chris

  5. Welcome David

  6. Welcome to the fold Ebbs, enjoying getting your hands a bit dirty isn't a bad thing. There is always some sort of fettling job that you want to get stuck in to with bikes and Ducati's are no exception to this rule, cleaning and admiring them afterwards gets somewhat addictive though so yours hands won't stay dirty for long ;)

Don't forget to post some pics of the new addition either, we like pics around here :upyeah:

  7. Welcome .............."David"..........................:worried:

    Hi, Chris and welcome.

  8. Welcome along

  9. Hi Chris.

  12. Afternoon

Thank you for the welcomes .

I've been out today and did about 100 miles , wow , I love it .

1st and 2nd gears are very short for what I'm used to but I've never been on a bike that picks up so fast ( to 70 of course ) .
My first v twin , first with great exhausts so the noise , wow the noise .
Is this how the love affair begins .

I'll get on the pics later , well try .

  20. Me too, not sure if it was pure luck or a very canny use of 'bin placement'
