For those who may not be aware my Ducati Monster 620ie was wrecked in a collision with a cement truck at the back end of September with the prices of parts and the fact we are not sure if the forks and frame are still straight it's a total loss have priced up what I know it needs and the bill is over twice the bikes value assuming forks and frame are OK that is. Luckily it's now winter and I don't ride in bad weather any more though am not allowed to ride at all at the moment surgeon wants a follow up visit in March as the bone is not healing well so am using the time to really think of what bike would be a good one as a replacement and yes have looked at the offerings Ducati wise and there are a couple of nice ones within the budget like a 800Sie but if I am honest I never rally gelled with the Monster and the always wanted a Ducati box has been ticked. Have always been more of a lowrider, street fighter, and what they now call "Bobber" type and as I cannot afford to get the dream Triumph Bonneville T140 am looking at Jap offerings like the Honda Shadow 750DC I still have the Triumph Trophy 900 which am very happy with. That nice rounded dent was I believe made by my knee. Plezier
Sorry to read about your accident and medical issues, aswell as the bike damage. I imagine it will be a total loss on insurance? I hope you get well soon.
Police have already said truck was at fault but yes it's a loss even if the forks and frame are still straight I looked it over and priced up the parts that are available and the fuel tank price alone is enough to kill it off. I will get better it will just take time at least it's winter. Plezier
Thank you for the kind words not really OK right now but with time should heal getting old sucks! Plezier
Thank you I have no choice but to heal up it's winter at least. Am not allowed to ride for now the Triumph Trophy 900 is standing forlorn and unused all I can do is run it up every now and then. But I can dream and look a sales listings and do research of those bikes that tickle my interest. Plezier
Looks like heavy cosmetic damage? Hope you're claiming for personal injury on insurance? Get well and rest up over winter.
Sorry to hear about your accident @Plezier. I hope that most importantly you heal well and in reasonable time, and also get a satisfactory outcome from the insurance that will enable you to but the bike you want.
Sorry to hear about that, rest up, get well and come back fresh in the spring. And yes, getting old sucks but it beats the hell out of the alternative.
It's a bit more that cosmetic:- Have you seen the price of this bracket/support? Nearly gave me a heart attack when I saw it. It tore out the hydraulic brake line snapped the throttle twist grip, cracked one side panel the other s missing not sure where that ended up! Instruments demolished and seeing as how they are programmed to the ignition switch and ECU which means they have to be renewed together and by the way are no longer available from Ducati it seems found a used set on ebay but they want £400. There is some wiring that was cut through under/behind the headlight headlight mount is trashed top yoke has impact damage clutch hydraulic line is split that was a new one too. Bars are bent those were new as well gear lever it well bent. I have not bothered mentioned just the cosmetic things like the scratched up muffler and wheel. Plezier
Unfortunately that cast aluminium bracket/support doesn't weld very well Plezier.* (this comment meant for you ideally - probably should have D.M.'d) Gear levers and rear brake pedals nearly often straighten ok cold. I hope you get well soon. *they do turn up on EBay secondhand.
Ahhh yes ebay well sadly there is a very poor ebay here in Bulgaria so it means buying from either Germany or the UK and Germany is slow shipping here the UK no longer in the EU means using a special courier to deal with customs and that takes about a month to reach here. Plezier
Ahhh that is good to know thanks I am stuck in limbo until the insurance inspect it can only dream about better things. Plezier
