Loose Controls

  1. The left hand controls on my 2002 Monster 750ie are loose and can rotate By around 10 degrees around the bars, especially if I use the choke/fast idle lever. I have tightened the securing bolts as much as I can but it still swivels. Anyone have any suggestions to stop this happening?

  2. has a locating screw rattled out? Or, has a bit of WD40 been going on - well, a lot of WD40?

  3. Standard set-up nearly always have a plastic "dowel" in moulded switch and corresponding hole in handlebars but there were some exceptions. If it's had aftermarket handlebars then maybe diameter is slightly smaller It's a botch-up, but you could wrap a couple of turns of insulation tape/masking tape around bar as a temporary fix.

  4. Thanks for the speedy reply - I didn’t know about the locating dowel. I think the bars are original but perhaps the dowel has broken off. I will strip off the switch cluster and see what’ it’s like inside.
