Hi all Since taking the engine out of my 95 m600 for a much needed clean up and repaint; it has now developed a weird and intermittent problem with the gears - namely when down shifting and only in 2nd and 1st. Occasionally, when I downshift, when getting to 2nd or 1st, the gear lever is loose (freely move up and down). After a few seconds, the lever reverts back to normal. If I'm in 2nd, I cannot select 1st which is an issue. Any thoughts? Cheers all
Sounds like the gear lever return spring is broken or at least gone soft. It normally keeps the lever centred and if it goes up shifting is ok but downshifts are difficult.
