Lost speedo 1098s

  1. During a very long and heavy downpour I had some electrical problems. Lost everything to start with then could not disengage the alarm. All sorted with a bit of heat and WD40. However when I press the start button there is not always a start and there is the sound of a short. After a couple of goes it starts. Speedo comes on but just sits there saying 0MPH. Nothing recording on trip counter either. Everything else on the display works.
    Any ideas?

  2. Hmm. Not too good with 1098 wirings but sounds like could've got water in speedo sensor wiring, causing it to short so now the ECU/dash doesn't receive the pulses required to calculate a speed reading so thinks you're not moving. How ever, i would doubt a speedo sensor would require enough current to cause an audible short. You've got the right idea of heat and wd40 so just disconnect all plugs in the speedo circuit and give them a good clean and dry out.

  3. It would be quite ironic if it said OOMPH.

    Sorry. That wasn't very helpful.
