Does it make much difference to noise and wind blast with a shorter PP style windshield? In a positive way.. Thx
I poke up with it, just moves the wind and noise to a different position, I found the original Screen pretty useless giving so much wind noise around the helmet, I have a bigger Givi Screen that works really well, but never use it, have left the PP screen on since first fitting to try it out.
I find the shorter PP screen quieter, I guess its cos you're in clean air vs the terrible buffeting with the appalling standard screen. I've just ordered the new Palmer Products screen kit in the hope of being able to use the larger screen without getting my head beaten about the place!
I never really noticed the noise until someone pointed it out tbh, now I know its there .. Lol And they look a lot better with the low screen, just a question of whether worthwhile or not
I use the Givi PP screen, not a lot of money to make the bike look at lot better, and better than the original screen noise and wind buffeting
I've spent a lot of time trying different screens: For general round town and shorter trips the Pikes peak style is much better, it's quieter with less wind roar and less buffeting. You do get more wind pressure on your helmet and chest, but your visor will also clear of rain drops easily. Last year, on a longer trip to Italy, I used a touring screen with a Wunderlich deflector on the top. The wind roar increases but the protection is far better and you can adjust it higher on motorways for more relaxing cruising. On Saturday I tried a Puig screen, without the deflector it was twice as bad as the short screen, the wind roar was so high I couldn't even hear my music. I added the deflector and it was a revelation, immediately dropped the noise and buffeting by about 80%. I also have a CalSci screen which I tried, this is totally silent with no buffeting at all, but personally I found it a bit too big and too close to me, you tend to look through it. If you were doing big miles then it's a good option, but made it a bit too much like a big BMW tourer for me. (Just about to put this up for sale)... I've been really impressed with the Wunderlich deflector, it has a large range of adjustment that allows you to find the best compromise. Wunderlich VarioERGO screen deflector
We went to Germany in may, and i decided to leave the pp screen on for the duration. its definitely less ter bucket and so generally quieter, but when it rains you get bigger all protection. My mates could see, whereas I couldn't, and my visor most definitely did not clear. For our next trip I am fitting the calsi screen, but taking the pp one with me for when we get there the problem with the calsci screen in hot weather, is that you get little air flow and so start to melt !
