  3. standard thread form traceys tools sell taps and dies this size as I recently bought at die this size tro make a one off oil filter mount - this is the thread ducatis, guzzis cirtreon 2cv and nortons use for their oil filter , its not that exotic

  4. Yep, I know the nut / thread itself is pretty standard (M16 Fine) and it can be found as a castle or slotted type quite easily, but not with a flange which is important.

  5. Large washer under a normal/castle head nut ? or if your stuck for space machine the base of the
nut down so the washer can fit, all depends what its going on etc, or must it be
    a flange type nut.

  6. try stigs fasteners

or middletons both have web sites and stock a huge range of stainless fittings

  7. The flange is important to stop a washer under that from distorting and scoring when the nut is tightened........it may be that I have to get a thick-ish stainless washer an have it welded to the castle nut........but in that case, I might as well have one turned.

Is that a Featherbed under your bench?

  11. yes

part of a long term project that I am slowly collecting parts for

  12. Project Triton?

  13. no tuned truiumph engines are like mobile grenades that exlode scattering expensive motor parts all over the road

had a 68 saint once, was winning the drag race about 3am in the morning when that happened

have a motor forks hubs tanks and are slowly collecting up all the smaller bits before I find a competent engineer to mate everything together

will post details in due course on the jockey journal forum, as its not a project most on this site would be remotely interested in
