Macmillan Cancer Support & Itallian Carbon "fetish"

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Nigel Machin, Sep 6, 2016.

  1. On Friday this week, I will be taking part in a 170 mile charity bike ride (the way of the roses) from Morcambe to Bridlington taking in some spectacular scenery, climbing more than 4000ft but more importantly raising money for a fantastic cause, I'll be using my other Italian carbon steed for the event. If you would like to donate anything at all, even if it's only words of support, that would be great but cash is better
    Thanks in advance

  3. I know! do a lot of training on my own, listening to tunes! so just gives me an idea of what to expect. Di2 is the dogs

  4. Have you tried the aftershokz headphones? If I feel the need for tunes I use them, they sit outside your ear so you can hear everything thats going on around you and you hear your music. Only downside is if its windy or your egging down hill your tunes usually loose out to the wind noise.

As for Di2 I'm a convert, just put Dura ace on my S-Works Venge and have Ultrgra on my Ti winter bike.
Are you ready for the challenge? I did Newcastle to London again this year on the windiest day of August, 315 miles in a day. Did it last year in 20hours 27 mins start to finish, this year was over 24 hours.

  5. You're a Fckin Lunatic LOL, should be up for it! Did Birmingham to Paris last year, only riding to keep the weight off now! turn 50 in October and can feel the aches now and then! Nice bike BTW.

  6. Age isn't a limiter, I'm 51 in 10 days time. Did 350 miles with 7,500 mtrs of climbing over 24 hours in 2014. Love a challenge.

  7. Fantastic, I take my hat off to you sir! I've had too many mountain bike accidents in the past, too many broken bones, oh and a few hard landings, ankles are Fuuuked!!

  8. Completed the challenge, weather was kind to us, missed all the rain entirely. The way of the roses is a fantastic route, hardly any main roads, well signposted and some awsome scenery and we raised over £6000 for Macmillan cancer support
