So I'm getting up towards my 2nd major service and was wondering what the going rate was? I was hoping to take advantage of any Winter workshop reduction deals that I have seen elsewhere but nowhere near me in Oxford. If there is no advantage, I may delay until 30k comes up next Summer but would be nice to have the bike sweet for next Euro trip. Welcome any feedback on prices paid, where and how you rated the work.
Just doing the same as it's 2 years since last belt change and on 29000 miles. The workshop I previously used are now taking things easier so have stopped their van collection, real shame as they are awesome but too far away from me. So ringing around sees authorised ducati around $750 , non franchised specialist around $550 . I live in N London..
Is it worth taking a look at the independents ? https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/independent-workshop-map.46916/
One thing I do know that since the change from 15k service to 18k the price has gone up hugely for the major service, was quoted £1K by dealer
I was told that the belt change and shim check service would be in the order of £1k when I bought my Multistrada nearly 6 years ago, so it was no surprise that the service at the beginning of this year cost about that with 4 shims needing replacing. If you have an independant mechanic you trust or can do it yourself of course it will be cheaper but don’t expect any out of warranty goid will support from a dealer or Ducati UK if you do. Servicing costs have been discussed on this forum ad norsium so this should not be a surprise to the regular contributors ........ @Wayne58 . Andy
I wqs told by by local authorised ducati dealer the 15000 mile service would be around 750 pounds, that includes normal parts ie oil and filter, excludes shims, told by my local ducati independent specialist service is 550 and doubt any shims would,be needed as rare to replace them now.
From memory @nelly did a great post about the 15k/5 year service and it goes way beyond shims and belts,i am sure he said the rear hub has to be removed and cleaned,my first big service is due soon and as long as my bike fits in the van I will be giving Cornerspeed a try. My problem is with intrim services as some do seem on the expensive side.I have always been told to allow £800/1000 for the big service.
I know it is a fugley so less probably to go wrong so less to check but my last major including everything, belts, shims, etc etc was around £480. I was happy with that and it was with a highly thought of independent ducati technician.
The Reason I was not happy, the 15k on my 2013 about 3 years ago, was quoted around £500/£600-00 so as you can imagine was not too happy when quoted £1k for my 2015 6 months ago
Don't forgot this price was a fugley, so the 1000 strada, but it was done at Moto-V in Colchester who is an Ex Parkies/Ducati tech http://www.moto-v.co.uk/ Glens a real spot on chap but if you look at the indies closest to where you live, throw out some of them into the forum for peoples opinions then I'm sure you will get some good feedback.
Had my 18k service done on my enduro a while back. Quoted £600; came too £1,034. With a winter discount it finally came to £934 @OYB. Not best pleased'
Were they suggesting 600 pounds labour excluding parts? Were any shims needed and what else ontop!of normal oil, filter, belts brake and clutch fluids were done, brake pads needed? New airfilter? Etc. There could be no other reason for such a total.
I was quoted £1100 from OYB but took it to DWR also in Aylesbury and he did the 15K service on my 1199R for £600. Result I thought as it was a 2 day job.
Our local Ducati shop says 7 hrs labor, $100 x 7 plus parts. It's going to tear up a $1000 bill. The parts are belts, shims, spark plugs, fluids. And they check everything sort of like a BMW big service. My independent mechanic retired. I do have an rt but do my own service on it since it's easy.
Thanks that shows a couple of places I hadn't considered. Never been a fan and how could they explain the £400 increase over quote? I think DMR and Baines will be worth looking at. How did you rate DMR?
