748 Marchesini Fitment

  1. Hi, I was hoping someone can give me advice. Is there any issues fitting a 916 marchesini rear wheel on a 748.? I'm right in thinking it's wider.?

    Thanks

  2. The 748 wheel was supposed to be 5.5inch.the 916 a 6 incher. However,I think ducati just stuck the first wheel that came to hand on.I dont think there would be any fitment probs putting a 6 inch rim on yours.

  3. My 748 sp , 916 bp & Foggy Rep all came with a 5.5 " rear wheel as standard .
I've tried Marchesini magnesium , Marchesini alloy & Dymag carbon all 5.5" as i prefer a 180 section rear tyre .

  4. All 748, 916, 996 & 998 came with 5.5" rear. 748s were fitted with a 180 tyre, 916,996 & 998 with a 190.

Early (maybe all?) 748s were also fitted with a 60 profile front tyre (same 120 width) but many (if not most) fit the 120/70 front and many 916, 996 & 998 owners fit the 180 rear.

But to answer the original question, if it is a 916 (OEM) wheel then it is the same 5.5" width as a 748, some aftermarket are in 6" and they may suit a 190 better but none of the 916 series needs the wider tyre due to the power output.

  5. As far as I am aware only the R and RS variants had 6 inch rims. I have a 6 in rim here but it won't clear the rear calliper on the 916
