Hi, I have a 2000 996 SPS and have just found that the front tyre leak i thought was a slow puncture or leaking vale is actually the wheel leaking from the centre of one of the spokes where it meets the rim! there is a small blemish on the inside of the rim but not much to see !! Is this a manufacturing fault or a fracture ??? would or should Marchesini do something about this ?? Regards Rich Kirby 07939 124109
"Wear and tear" would be my cry if I was Mr Marchesini. They will probably only give a 1 or 2 year guarantee against faulty workmanship and/or materials. Twelve years old be taking the piss a tad I think.
Probably a casting defect due to contamination, causing porosity. Get it cleaned out, then welded up.
I was thinking of getting it re-furbed and welded ! was suppose to be off in back of van to the Manx in two weeks so will need a quick turn around
Try Maidstone Motoliner centre in Kent. They repair wheels and might be able to turn it around quickly for you. I've used them a few times and they know their stuff.
are that still the original alu wheels, not the magnesium ones? first time i hear that about stock wheels. henk!!!
These guys... They also do magnesium stuff as well - infact one of the few people who can refurb the stuff properly.
