Hi all, I've had my gen1 for 5 trouble free years but after a bit of a mishap my bottom screen stopped working. I bought a secondhand replacement but unfortunately the mileage is way out. Is there anyone out there who can correct the mileage for me? I've tried searching the forum but with limited results. I knoemw it can be done by main dealers etc but im not looking to pay that kind of money. My local indy recommended a place but its 100s of miles away. Thanks all. Jamie
Gen1 being the 1198 E3 model, correct? Somebody with a OBDStar unit local to you should be able to help. According to the capability spreadsheet it can do milage sync between the BBS and the instrument cluster.
one of the lads has just bought an app for his phone that comes with a Bluetooth EOBD plug. he says various connectors are available for it. including bikes. it has the ability to change millage. it's about £100. i've been playing with it. it's way better than my £4K, Plus £90 per month subscription for every month i have it SnapOn ETHOS. i will get the make on monday. even if just to inform the collective.
When you say the mileage is way out is it higher or lower than that which is actually incurred ? Just be aware that when the mileage count is synced by a diagnostic device (it’s stored in both the dash and the BBS) it will always sync to the higher value. Also, it really shouldn’t be too expensive for a dealer to do it as it is a quick job but they may charge for a minimum of 30 mins labour, best to phone around.
The mileage on my bike is 12500 the mileage on the new dash is 24k. Thats not a bad shoild to be honest, i just assume all dealers are rip off merchants, I'll have a ring round and see what happens. Thanks for the info
The mileage in the BBS will be updated to 24,000 too if you go through the procedure. You may be better off leaving the BBS as a reflection of the true mileage and just live with the displayed mileage, plus, course, some documentary evidence of the dash change come resale time.
I suppose that makes sense as Ducati would, in the case of replacement, prefer you to buy a new instrument cluster, or BBS. With any correction resulting in the true mileage for the machine. Users doing their own repairs aren't a consideration. After you saying that a dealer would be able to correct the OPs used display to the lower mileage in the BBS?
