1200 Mirror Glass And Hand Guard Fix/replacement

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by GEH007, Apr 4, 2016.

  1. Morning,

A lucky escape yesterday, a car on the wrong side clipped me after I swerved to avoid. Fortunately only damage is the wing mirror glass breaking away and shattering and the handguard/indicator suffering a small crack. Both right hand side from riders view. No other damage and I am fine.

The latter may be ok with a drip of glue but if i can find a reasonable price replacement i will do that.

The wing mirror, can the glass be replaced or is it an entire mirror housing needed?

Any pointers for value replacements if that's the way to go would be much appreciated.

    Bike is 2013 Pikes Peak.

    Thanks all.

  2. I take it that the car buggered off after the collision? Otherwise you'd be insisting on them, at the very least, paying for parts.

  3. OE hand guards are a very reasonable £15 or so, from your friendly local Ducati dealer.
Indicators are the thick end of £70, IIRC; I got a good condition second-hand one off eBay.

  4. Thanks for the replies.

The indicator is fine but the handguard has a slight crack. Are you sure they are only £15 OEM?

Mirrors looked expensive, ive found an aftermarket for £30 delivered, we'll see if it's a decent option when it shows up.

  5. Had to replace a handguard a year or so back and it was then £13 from dealer so not bad at all.

  6. Yes, very sure. Depends on the mark-up or mark-down applied by your dealer, of course. My dealer charged me less than the price that was marked on the box.
Could you get an auto-glass place to cut a piece of mirror glass to the right shape?
