I gather that this is fairly common on the newer Ducati's (never had a problem on my 996  ) Is it just something that you live with - or has anyone had success with a warranty claim?
My 848 EC does it. But there again so did all my JIL4's that I've had. The question is..........when will bike build quality match that of today's cars. Even shitty, cheap car marques don't do that.
The clock unit houses the air pressure sensor, so is open to atmosphere. Of late it's been quite damp. As the clock unit warms a little or even direct sunlight hits them, they'll mist a little. It's annoying I know but I've never seen a set fail because of it. My 1098 did it with no ill effects. A replacement set would do the same tbh, but you'd lose your mileage readings.
Thanks Nelly. Is there a similarly logical explanation for my off-side headlight doing the same?
Dave I sold mine with a brand new boxed dash just in case, can put you in touch with my buyer. I have heard those little Silica gel packets do it a treat if you open up the dash and pop one inside, I have a substantial supply! Roy
The early multis do/did it alot resulting in corroded circuit boards, failing dash lights etc. When mine does it I split the clock apart and put it in the airing cupboard for the night.....I'm on my third clock set.
Mine dash is only doing it a little and so far it has cleared after 30 mins of riding. I'll maybe see if I can pop a packet of silica in when I next have the fairings off.
My dash mists, but was basically told it could be replaced under warranty, but they all do it so no point. However I was talking recently to someone who'd had a 1098 which misted, but then an 1198 which didn't, so maybe Ducati sorted the issue on later versions of the dash. My D16 was out of warranty by then, but may be worth an ask ?
On a slightly different note, would love to know if Panigale dash could be made to work on the Sedici (as per current GP bikes), that would be cool
Interesting. Bearing in mind that the D16 is a hideously expensive and rare bike, isn't it one of those things you keep as standard as possible to make sure it maintains its value?
The head light is a similar problem. Flip it on to hi beam whilst you warm the bike up. Not a permament solution but it clears it. You can pop a small hole in the bottom of each of the covers on the back of the light to "vent" the light unit. That helps.
Maybe, but would be cool, and as long as you kept original dash/connections wouldn't make huge difference IMO
