Hi Guys, I would appreciate your help with an issue I'm having on my 2009 Ducati Monster 1100s. I'll start with describing the problem: Under hard acceleration the engine won't rev higher than ~ 6000 rpm, it actually feels like there is a sudden ignition cut off for both cylinders – the bike jerks forward and backwards as I hold the throttle open. It doesn't shut off but feels as if it reaches the rev limiter much sooner. However, it is not the same as hitting the rev limiter, which "gently" holds the revs lower, this one is much more abrupt. To make things a little more complicated this doesn't happen all the time, in some rides it will and in some it won't – sometimes stopping the bike for half an hour and starting it up again will make this "go away" and on some occasions, everything will work nicely but half an hour later into the ride it will start doing it again, while it happens no light comes on and no message appears. So, this is what has been replaced so far: spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, main battery, power regulator, I have also used one bottle of injectors cleaning fuel supplement, TPS calibration, tested out the ignition coils and ignition wires, checked the pressure sensor, looked for a logged error message (using the DDS) – nothing found… Any ideas on what's next? Could it be the RPM sensor? Can it still be the TPS (although it was successfully re-calibrated)?
I would be inclined to change the timing sensor (pick up) next. When faulty they can produce the symptoms you describe and won't show an error.
Are you referring to the exahust valve? Forgot to mention that I have a termignoni full system and removed the valve control servo (which is normally located under the seat).
