Ok so I am done with doing it with at best half of the knowledge I need. Need to establish some facts so I can get bike setup to stock before dyno runs. I have today fitted 600ss flywheel modded by 470four to fit and bike is dead (not his fault just my wacky ignition made out of 900ssie bottom end and carbed electrics ) Kokusan CDI units first. Found this info, does it sound correct: "Stock module starts at 6 degrees BTDC until 1700 RPM, then advances to 32 degrees at 2600 RPM, then goes off the tacho at 32 degrees" I guess between 1700 and 2600 there is a figure somewhere in the middle. Best throttle response there I got with 20 degrees. Flywheel Taking above in to consideration why is 900ss/Monster flywheel 6 - 36 degrees? 600 ss flywheel is 6 to 32 degrees stock? To reset pickups to stock position you put horizontal cylinder in to TDC and marks on the flywheel should align. The lump on flywheel is about 4 o'clock just before 1st (horizontal) pickup is that correct? If it is no markings on any of my flywheels align with pickups (centre of it). Air gap on pickups should be about 0.7mm. Is it measured to the notch of flywheel or flywheel? Is it measured from the notch on pickups or from flat part? Finally will the Ohm read from pickups change if air gap is to big or to small? I get 100 Ohms.
It might not be visible but on 3rd picture there is a dot just in front of flywheel notch. Or what sequence should it be with engine running if you look with engine rotation there is notch then double dot, single dot, double, and single, single, single and notch again
