Hello all Am in need of a brembo front wheel for my m600 on a 1995 plate. Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. Many thanks Danny
I could be wrong, and I've no doubt someone will correct me if I am, but I think the M600 front wheel is the same as several other bikes of a similar age. I'm pretty sure that the front wheel on my ST4 is the same as the M600 - just with a disc on each side instead of only one. I have a slightly tatty gold ST4 front wheel going spare if you're interested.
The carbed SS front wheel should be the same..........but check the axle size on the Monster, because I am pretty sure that changed from the 17mm axle to the larger one at around the same time as the SS one did......1995 IIRC. AL
You're right Al, they did change diameter at about this time. I seem to remember having an issue with one of my front wheels for the DD bike. I thought it was possible to resolve the size difference with a different set of bearings and internal spacer but I think there's more to it than that. So, if you (the OP) can measure the diameter of your spindle, make sure the replacement wheel matches... saves a lot of messing around.
hi all - thanks for all the replies and advice. Have taken Kenoir's advice and today measured the spindle. To my reckoning it is a 19mm spindle (I don't have a micrometer or vernier gauge) so I measured the spindle width (the section that sits inside the forks) and I also measured width of speedo drive housing. So - am looking for a wheel to suit. Cheers all Danny
Cribbed from Ducati Monster Forums: Ducati Monster Motorcycle Forum ....post by Mark1305 Re: Front wheel compatibility

The wheels aren't quite identical... The 91-93 900s (Monster & SS) used 17mm solid axles. 94 should be the first year for 20mm solid front axles and they were used up until the switch to 25mm front axles around 98 or 99? The wheels are slightly different in that while you can simply swap bearings and the inner spacer to fit either wheel to either axle, the recess for the speedo drive seal on the earlier 17mm type wheels is too small to get any kind of seal in there if using a 20mm axle and speedo drive. The larger drive will fit in there, but with only about 1mm gap and no seal. Not really a problem. I've swapped one of my wheels from 17mm setups to 20mm and back again. The short explanation is that one bike has a 17mm axle and the other a 20, and I have three sets of wheels total for a spare track set. First, check to see if a PO left it as a 17mm (correct for that year model) or updated it to a 20mm axle (94 up until the switch to 25mm hollow axles). Then you know what you need. Remember that if you get a 20mm styel wheel for a 17mm axle, you will need to swap inner spacers as well as bearings. Sometimes they are harder to find than the wheels. BTDT. Obviously if you swap the axle to match a certain wheel, you must also swap the threaded insert in the left fork leg and the speedo drive. BTW, there isn't anything to be gained by going to a 20mm axle. The 17mm type hold up fine. I discovered by accident when I put the whole front end from the Monster on the 92 SS, that the speedos are calibrated for different drive ratios and suddenly my 900ss was doing 160 down the back straight at Homestead ;D (actually more like 115-120 in real mph). Putting the 17mm front end back in place fixed that.
Going on the extremely useful information via Arquebus, the diameter of my spindle is 20mm - not 19mm as thought (given the age of the bike and as the fork leg fits this spindle and as does the speedo drive) Appreciate the insight and info.
Be a good idea to post a pic of your wheel and the speedo drive side of the hub...........then we should be able to tell exactly which wheel you need. AL
