I bought a bike mag the other day that features the 1098 on the cover. In the write up it says the 1098 came with a USB data logging stick as an £150 option, the S model has it as standard. Where would I find it if my bike has one? My bike came from the dealers with three Ducati booklets, one is the service record and the other two are bumph relating to ducati warranty and owners club etc. Should I have an owners handbook as I had with my suzuki? Thanks, Phil
Under the pillion seat/seat cowl. Held in place with a rubber strap You should have got a handbook for your bike. They are downloadable from Ducati http://www.ducati.com/services/maintenance/index.do
Its under the rear seat, towards the front. It looks like a big chunk of plastic, held into place by a rubber band. The toolkits sits on top of it
Thanks guys, i dont have one :frown:. I checked under the seat last night and only have the yellow plug. How much are they and are they simple to use? I am a little confused as i remember a post saying you needed to purchase a lead from ebay to connect the bike to a pc. Is that instead of the usb plug? I dont have the toolkit either or the rear seat and footpegs which the dealer promised me. I only managed to get out on the bike a few times before the weather closed in and I had the engine management light on at one point. I would love to know why, would the usb stick provide that info? Thanks again for the photo, link etc. Phil
The port will be there, you just need the stick to plug it into. They go for about £70-100 on ebay and are a doddle to use check all your paperwork and and books, may be hidden in there
Thanks bradders, i had all the documents out last night and no USB stick in there. I think the part number is 97900.0225?
The DDA came in it's own box. It doesn't need a lead though. One end plugs into the bike and the other is a stock USB. You can use an extension lead if it makes hooking up to PC easier. Like you said, standard on the S and R and an option on the base model.
Google Ducatidiag if you want to connect to your bike and read faults Also have a look at http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f41/!098-orange-engine-warning-light-4670/
Thanks, Would the usb dda talk to the ducatidiag or would i need the leads connected to the bike and a pc for this to work? I am thinking the latter? I apologise Anth as I think you have attempted to knock this into me once! Maybe I am confusing the two?
Yeah....you need the leads for Ducatidiag. The DDA is more for track use to display throttle positions, speeds, lean angles etc.
The DDA isn't an error logging device. It records info like speed, throttle, gear, rpm etc. so you can view it later on the PC. If you're running the lap timer it also shows your lap times. Consider it an accessory rather than a diagnostic tool. If you're after that then something Ducatidiag or a trip to the dealer are your options...
Right, big thanks for your patience and assistance guys. I shall order the two leads as featured in the ebay link above posted by chrisw. I am assuming the ducatidiag will run on windows 8
I've not tried it on 8, but it was a bit fussy on vista and 7 I use a cheap NetBook running XP now. Chris might have tried it.....
Just bought the DDA for my 1198 during its last service (it was going for a price I couldnt refuse), will ask another thread see if others have it.
