More Multi Warranty Madness

  1. This is farcical.

I bought my Multi new from George White plymouth. They went bust so had all my updates and DES error sorted by Riders in bridgewater. While there in Feb of this year I bought the extended warranty. I heard nothing and was told that would receive confirmation nearer the time when actual warranty was due in Setember of this year.

About ten visits went by and the day before the warranty expires I am told it is not registered as I can only buy the warranty from the original dealer.

Riders confidently say they will get Ducati UK to sort it and will get back to me. Couple more visits and finally chased again today by Billy in Riders (who is very helpful and actually does calll you back)

Ducati are now saying they cant implement the warranty as there is an outstanding recall (coolant) on the bike! a recall I am only aware of due to this forum. I have had no correspondence from Ducati at all.

So in summary paid £288 in Feb. Received nothing and now cant get warranty because of recall I have not been informed of by Ducati.

So if I break down on the way to have my coolant done ( a DUCATI fault with the bike from new) I would not be covered by a warranty I had paid for in good faith.

My plan is to have the recall done and then ensure that the warranty is implemented from the date I actually go back into Riders. If Ducati insist that it is backdated to September I will go freakin mad!

Great bike but Ducati doesn't know its arse from its elbow dealing with afterservice.

Role on 1190 KTM. Just hope it rides well. At least I can walk to the dealership from my house!

  4. Hmmm this is compounded by a dealer going out of business, Ducati should and I hope honour the warranty you have paid for although maybe the selling dealer didn't process the warranty and that's the underlying problem

  5. Just to claify.

I bought the warranty from Riders who are still in business because George White from whom I bought the bike had gone bust. It was therfore impossible to buy the warranty from the dealer from where i bought the bike. Riders processed the warranty with Ducati back in Febuary but Ducati never informed them until about my 8th visit that the warranty needs to be bought from the original dealer.

Do they not have faith in their products that they make it so difficult to buy a warranty extension?

  6. This is similar to me... I bought the bike from Daytona who no longer sell Ducati... I went to Parkinsons (Colchester) and they transferred the dealership to them. I got my extended warranty through them, but I understand that they had a lot of hassle from Ducati about it. I've not received anything from Ducati to confirm that the warranty is "active", but the Dealer says it is... better be, the engine is now toast! (see other thread)

  7. Good luck David. I hope it is all sorted for you via the warranty.
Apparently the dealer can print a certificate off from their system at request. Why Ducati cant send a warranty certificate to you is obviously another "quirk"

  8. +1

  9. I had a similar hassel with Riders & Ducati as well when trying to extending the warranty , I originally bought my 10 reg Multi from a Honda dealer (it had been taken in as a part ex) & it was about 14 months old then, I contacted Riders to sort out the extended warranty as they had been the original supplying dealership - I paid my £288 payment & thought all was sorted.
After a while i hadn't heard anything from either company but was assured by Riders all was well, waited again then after about 4 months I had my payment returned to me saying that Ducati wouldn't extend the warranty because I wasn't the original owner & the 18 month time limit for extending it has passed!.
E-mails & rants on the phone got me nowhere, so I've been left without it.
Thankfully the bikes run without any issues so far but some of the threads i read on here were owners have had big problems leaves me thinking how long i should keep the Multi???

  10. Ive never been informed by Ducati about anything since the day I bought the bike , Ive had zero correspondence from them , I only know about the coolant recall as Riders actually wrote it in biro on my printout after taking it in for my flat battery hassles, thats good points for Riders but zero for Ducati , Id prefer Ducati to concentrate on things that actually matter not the bloody coolant , If a motor is so sensitive that the type or grade of coolant could have a long or short term adverse affect on it then thats very bad news indeed

  11. Give Warranty Direct a call. They paid up on a 655 Euro bill when my bike's loom had a short circuit in Italy.

  12. Nice new Vespa there Peter :upyeah:
