I realse that this is a total shot in the dark but my next door neighbour has found that the front axle pinch bolt on the fork bottom has snapped. Some muppet did 3 spot welds on it and rubbed some grease into it to hide it. Any chance someone on here has a Marzocchi fork bottom in a box of bits ? Andy
It's the spindle clamp part of the aluminium fork leg bottom that has snapped. Due to a previous attempt to reattach it with spot welds it's proving to be a challenge to make good a second time although the local welder has made a good enough job to get it through the MoT. Andy
A mate of mine had a similar thing happen on an older Guzzi............he took it to a decent machine shop / welders and although they used the broken 'lug' part for reference, they actually discounted trying to reattach it and they added a blob of ally weld which was then shaped to match the original..........it hardly showed.
