How will the Multistrada cope with the propose move to E10 fuel? Anyone noticed a difference with European fuel whilst touring? Will it have any long term effect on the bike? I know they’re designed to cope with different grade fuels.....but I’m interested in any feedback from long term users. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/more-600000-cars-incompatible-proposed-e10-introduction
They do it in France and some other Eu countries, and I doubt Ducati make different tanks for different NSC.
I use either V Power or Tesco Momentum. But will the providers stick 10% ethanol in premium fuels? Can they?
Yeah, sure. When touring all around Europe, I would not dream of putting anything else in my bike than V Power. Even when I am running low on fuel and the nearest station selling V Power is 200 miles away.
98 or 99 RON has been available at most stations I have been to in Europe. Well, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Germany anyway.
https://support.shell.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115005935369-What-Is-Ethanol- According to this article, Shell unleaded and Shell V Power unleaded petrol in the UK will contain up to a maximum of 5% ethanol. Andy
I am pretty sure all unleaded fuel sold in the UK has upto 5% ethanol as standard due to a government regulation, however Esso super unleaded has no ethanol in it according to their website.
Lots of E10 fuel in Europe, I also go for the premium petrol (if available) but so far have never noticed any difference to the Multi even on 93 / 95 fuel.
Synergy Supreme+ premium petrol is the only one with no Ethanol apart from in some areas like Devon and Geordie land for some reason...
Here is the DafT consultation document itself, in case anyone is interested: https://assets.publishing.service.g...l-consumer-protection-fuel-pump-labelling.pdf
What is the ethanol content of your fuels? The majority of unleaded 95 Octane petrol sold in the UK contains up to 5% ethanol as required under the Government’s Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation (RTFO). There is currently no requirement for renewable fuel (such as ethanol) to be present in super unleaded (97 grade petrol). Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded 97) is ethanol free (except in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area and Scotland). We would therefore advise anyone who has concerns about the presence of ethanol in petrol to use Synergy Supreme+ – providing they do not fill up in Devon or Cornwall, the Teesside area or Scotland. I always wondered why certain areas have different ethanol content I do use V power, most of the time, though it is annoying that Esso supreme is excessively more expensive than 95, about time it went the other way around as it is cleaner for air pollution
In the US we have extensive experience with 10% ethanol. In fact where I live I cannot get anything else but at my vacation house can get 100% gas. 2015 dvt with 19000 miles. I have run both fuels back to back in tanks and can tell no difference whatsoever. The non ethanol usually costs more also. So 95% of my mileage is 10% ethanol premium usually 91-93 octane. In winter storage for 2-3 months I add stabilizer to the ethanol fuel and have no problems with that either.
