Hi i am currently replacing the starter motor on my 1000ds strip down went pretty ok but i have a couple of questions 1, is it a problem if the cog next to the stater motor cog is turned clockwise or anti clockwise as i've managed to do both 2, there is an allen bolt next to the right hand starter bolt behind the cog that i loosened a little mistaking it for the stater bolt (doh), i assume this is ok to take out loctite and replace with no issues? 3 do i need to apply sealant to the new starter seal as the last guy to work on it has but i've read its not required Thanks for any help
No problem. One direction will move freely the other direction will turn the engine. Yes. If there is a gasket no, otherwise yes. Whatever, it won't do any harm and you'll be kicking yourself if you don't and it subsequently leaks.
