The clutch on my newly acquired Multistrada project doesn't function. The screws on the Reservoir are goosed and the reservoir looks half full, so I'm going to deal with that. Squelchy noise coming from the slave cylinder when you operate the lever..... Luckily someone fitted allen headed screws to the slave cylinder so that came off easily...... Query 1: Is a fluid supposed to ooze out of a 2mm diameter hole on the mating surface of the slave cylinder when you squeeze the lever? Is this a lubricant or a sign of a leaking cylinder? Query 2: The clutch push rod totals but won't pull out easily, am I missing a trick here?. Thanks in advance. Edit : Where can I quickly get a new banjo nut and bleed nipple for the slave? yep it snapped!
Oooze green like mine did had to get a priest for mine; before it came right just never seen before? worried about, for you mate, good luck Ps might have to take the engine out ask El Toro he knows his clutches
Very little fluid in there, but hard to tell because if the rubber insert thing. Drilled out the bad screw head and the rest of that screw came out easy with mole grips. As a temporary fix the screws off your kitchen cabinet handles are the perfect substitute for the stock screws. Snapped off the 8mm bleeder on the slave so waiting for new parts now....to be continued! I'm guessing Italian screws and bolts are not very good metal!
I'd appreciate some advice if anyone can help. The clutch wasn't working and fluid seemed low so after a bit of messing around with dodgy screws I've swapped the bleed nipple at the slave cylinder end and have been using a syringe to push through new fluid from there. No bleed nipple at the banjo on the reservoir so I've been loosening the banjo. I have some movement on the clutch itself now, the pressure plate moves about 4-6mm when I press the clutch lever, but cant get the bike in gear when its running, do I just need to keep on bleeding it or is it a sign of something else?
And if it is, there is a bleed screw at the bottom of the reservoir under the fluid. 4 - 6mm of clutch lift should be enough to disengage it. If it hasn't been used for some time it is possible that the plates are stuck together. It is not a big job to take the cover off the clutch, undo the 6 screws holding the springs and pressure plate and take the plates out and give them a clean. When you put it back together just nip up the screws holding the springs. The posts are easily broken off if you over tighten them.
