Hello, can anyone suggest some good water proof pannier bags for the aluminium panniers please. The stock ones are around £200!! thanks.
Have you looked on eBay? I got some really good looky likes ones for my Multistrada for £50 brand new.
Got to say the OEM bags fit well and work, which is just as well as both panniers leak in heavy rain. My top case doesn’t leak and I haven’t got a liner. I’m sure there must be an aftermarket option for a GS, which would be close enough.
Are you talking about the Ducati tin boxes? Mine haven’t leaked yet - but haven’t been tested in really heavy rain.
I am, you need waterproof liners/bags. My GSA panniers also leaked, but top cases on both bikes did/do not.
Thanks. Bike is currently en route to Canada. I follow it in a couple of weeks. I guess I should get some dry bags!
Ebay. £40/set. Jobs a good un; nearly went for it too. But I like a good saving, so... I use two small rucksacks that are a perfect fit. Cost? Nil. Found em in the loft. Nay leaky, under crackers dry. And if I need to I now have two small bags to use around town; Bonus! If you're paying Ducati prices for two small bags then good on ye, you've got too much money and are one of life's winners!
It’s easy to find cheap bags that will fit. The issue is that if they don’t fit properly/exactly you waste space. I’m travelling for eight weeks, don’t use a top box and don’t want anything strapped to the rear seat, so every cubic inch in the panniers is important. OEM inners are always a bonkers price, just like OEM boxes but at least they fit properly - in theory…
Yah, I hear ya. However, the rucksacks I use are a slightly greater volume than the boxes so i don't over stuff em. I also don't put anything in the outside pockets so they can be shoe horned in without much effort; there is little space left under utilised. Those metal panniers are quite commodious, not as much as my old KTM Grey boxes but close! The left pannier, with the sculptured bottom is a a slightly different case (no pun intended). I underfill the rucksack for that and any shoes/trainers etc fit nicely in that void space. Simples. I can stick in enough stuff for me to do a week away at least. Anything bike related, tools, spares, dry gloves, first aid, waterproofs, PRC, Compressor, tyre mousse, locks, bungees etc go in an old tank bag strapped to the rear of the beast and live there permanently; nothing of great value and I've never had anybody try and nick it in 20 years. However, whatever suits Mate, horses for courses and a' that.
