Multistrada.... Pr5 Or Power Rs

  1. 7F21F551-576F-409E-9467-997237E0C758.jpeg Ive now covered 2600 miles on my 1260 Pikes Peak and the rear tyre is at 1.2mm. I ride pretty hard so looking for recommendations. I had Power RS on my Panigale and loved them on dry to damp roads. I find the OE scorpion Trail 2 tyres lack feedback. Also very easy to reach the edge of the rear tyre on the road.

  2. PR5 is an incredible road tyre, the tyre far outweighs my abilities, great feedback, and will last well. I was not a fan of the PR3 or 4s but this is the nuts!!!

  3. Having just come back from a trip on the XR starting at Santander, San Sebastian, to Andorra then through the Pyrenees and zigzag across to Carcassonne, Toulouse, La Rochelle and finally up to Caen before another 250 miles home to Nottingham from Portsmouth, I can safely say that the new Pirelli Angel GT 2 ran beautifully.

I've always been a metzeler man wherever possible on superbikes or super nakeds, and was going to fit some more M7rr before going but saw the special deal on the GT2'S so thought why not?

We've covered lots of very long motorway miles, many multiple mountain passes at some pretty serious pace with lots of switch backs and tight full lean cornering and everything in between, we even encountered sleet and near freezing conditions going over the top out of Andorra (2600m high) and they never once squirmed or lost the planted feel.

Considering that I like to get a move on whenever I hit twisty stuff on the XR (mainly because it's superb at it) then I honestly can't think of one time or riding condition when the GT2's let me feel anything other than confident, and during last week we've ridden in circa 4 degrees through to 30 degrees and everything in between

    Colour me impressed :upyeah:

  4. PR5s all day for me..

I buy and fit my own tyres and last time I bought two rear Power RSs to fit my Panigale, now up until recently I haven’t had a puncture for about the las 10 years.......until I fitted the RSs!!

First one punctured at about 70% worn, there was probably about another 800 - 1000 miles of wear left in it, unlucky I thought.
Fitted the second one and it did exactly the same!
It just seems like the carcass is really lightweight and not very puncture resistant at all.
The last one punctured when I was on tour in Scotland, plugged it and made it to A bike tyre dealer in Crief, naturally he didn’t keep 180/60 size in stock ( 899 rear section) so against my better judgment, I let him fit a 190/55 PR5....
    It’s been flipping brilliant!
Totally happy with everything about these tyres ( I fitted a front one to match up when I got home) as much grip on the road as the RS and better grip in the wet, bike handles just the same and no affect to traction control etc.

It’s done about 2,250 miles now and looks like it’ll do as much again.
I’m sticking with these tyres for road use now, all the Supersport ones are knackered by 2,000 miles and puncture far too easily.
    100% recommended imo
    Hope this helps

  5. Hi my 2 pennies worth I just brought PR5s for my multistrada was going to put some supersport tyres on it because I thought I needed it,as I was planning a couple of long trips and basically the super sports tyres wouldn't have lasted so my local tyre fitter recommend the PR5s
Best tyre I have used in a long time has given me so much more confidence in the wet and dry
    You will not be disappointed
