998 Mv F4

  1. Hi folks been offered strong money part ex for a 2014 F4 anyone up on F4s good points bad points ect any info much appreciated

  2. Hi Simon, think there pretty good over all but check the rear hub assembly as there prone to wheel bearing problems! Also they can run hot so make sure there are no cooling problems also.

  3. It will go down in value significantly where the 998 will go up :)

  4. Thanks guys.:)

  5. To be honest I'm unsure what to do?

  6. get it and sell to me cheap!! :tearsofjoy:

  7. Ring, Paul at Bennetts. Barnsley MV dealership. They'll give a an honest opinion.

  8. rear wheel hub bearings were a weak point (I saw 3 different bikes all nearly new have collapsed beings in one track weekend )

    people often over tighten them

  9. It's Paul who offered me he deal :)

  10. Rear hubs like Ducati electrics were a weak point but manufacturer improve things (incidentally the only rear hub bearing I've had destroy itself was on my 916). As said above they did/do have a tendency to run a bit hot but you can get an improved impeller fitted, running on waterless coolant makes a marked improvement. They are fantastic engines but you really do need to be the. Wrong side (by a considerable margin) to get the best from them. I had a 312RR but after a while decided that I was either going to be in a hedge or at her majesty's pleasure. So it had to go.
Oh and you'll spend a lot of time stood in the garage just looking at it, everything is designed with a purpose not like a Ducati where things are just 'bolted on'.

  11. Was that on the current model or the older one?

  12. this would have been 2011-12 tbh,
its an issue on the brutale too

  13. I nearly bought one a few years back the F4S is pretty bullet proof from what I gathered other than running hot (so make sure it's had regular coolant changes and bled properly), also as mentioned rear hub bearings, although this is difficult to check on a test ride!

In a pure ownership sense though I would possibly gear up for it being more extreme than a 998, slower, and actually I think 998's values are really climbing fast as they generally are seen as the very best of the 'classic' Ducati's where as the MV Shape stayed the same for many years into the 1000 era.

  14. F4S 750 values are climbing, the older 1000 are still dropping...

  15. It's a tough one on what to do guys?

  17. I have had two MVs recently and they have great with absolutely no issues, even the so called iffy fuelling is, imho, vastly overstated. Just bought another Duke because I love the V twins, love the style and the way they do what they do but the F4 is a whole lot of bike. Go ride it and the make your choice. I'd have another in a heart beat. If it is the one I have seen there, it really is a beautiful thing.

  18. The new shape F4 has an updated rear hub and doesn't have the same problems in that area.

  19. They are bringing out a new F4 next year - supposedly the dogs danglys & then some

    And a new naked .....

    Hub went in my 848SF
