My Winter Project So Far, 959 To Track Bike

  1. So after allot decisions last year I decided I’m still got plenty of riding fun to be had on the 959 so slowly getting it done.

So, first job was removing all the road gear, to actually take the units off and see the engineering in them was an eye opener and glad I did it now but the bike doesn’t look good naked

Had a mare getting the rear pegs off, all sorts but in the end was a session with some chunky drill bits and a grinder. That was a 10 minute job that took a day!

the next jobs were all at once so a full set of hel braided lines but with the abs removal module so new lines all on and and pump removed

Once done and all that fitted, decided a new Oberon clutch cylinder was worth a go as was having to bleed it every 3 track days so hopefully saves a job. Big improvement in feel so worth doing as has the lines off anyway and needed new fluid etc

Once all lines done I have started to build the bike back up, some of the items of bling now going on so carbon hugger first

current item is rear sets, decided on CRC adjustable ones so after a few weeks pain and a payment for the privilege to customs they finally arrived so half way through that at moment

Got some more bits coming and fairings have been sent off to our very own evoboy to work his magic

more bits planned but mostly cosmetic now

first track day booked for mid April so plenty of time

  2. Few bits done today but not as much as would like

decided to stick with shotgun exhausts for this season so got the Akra one rather than the dustbins. Not that I’m fast enough to notice it’s a few KG’s lighter IMG_0598.jpeg IMG_0597.jpeg IMG_0595.jpeg

  3. Good idea to keep standard cans. Zero worries at any track noise test.

  4. I had those same rear sets on my 959. Decent bit of kit with plenty of adjustment.

  5. Finally got the bike done last month, between everything needed I ran it on a test day with some road fairings but not good but all came together in the end, with the fairings arriving the day before my final package from Italy of a lap timer ((decided on a PZracing GPS timer after some reviews despite some people on here having issues with them - but after first test yesterday it works fine for me) so managed to get it all done just in time to do a track day - then not actually get beyond noise test due to monsoon rain and gail force winds at 8.55 that day!!

The wrap work was done by @evoboy from the forum. After a very basic "Do the lambo wrap job but replace green with black" got the fairings back and the details and little touches like the 959 in Italy colours are little thing I just wouldnt think of, he is a very talented and creative guy obviously - cant recommend his services enough and say how pleased I am with it. Think the only thing I have done is added the AGIP and belly pan stickers, and foggy eyes but rest is all his genius not mine.

    So, marmite time I guess

Got a full set of replacement jetprime switches/throttle and keyless ignition to fit, but thats next winter job now as its time to enjoy some riding!
