Mystery Carb Needles??

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by doogalman, Sep 19, 2020.

  1. While rummaging thru my box of carb parts for the Monster 900. I have these two needles that have a top hat instead of adjustment rings.
The only markings on them are 8AO.

Anyone know what they would have been for. As certainly not the normal bdst38 fitment.

  2. Could they be for Lectron carbs? They look similar

I have a huge stash of new spare parts and needles for S&W Ei carbs. They were known for their bright blue painted finish. The needles have the same top hat. The carbs have no main jet, fuelling is adjusted fitting different sized needles. S&W were known for their suspension, but they were owned by Red Edmonston who owned Edmonston Industries (Ei) and S&W. Red is the inventor of the Lectron carburetor which is very similar to the Ei.

  3. Look very much like the needles in my '70s Goldwing.
