996 Nearly, But Not Quite....

  1. Ran the old SPS in on the dyno today, showed 149.7 bhp. Maybe if I had lubed the chain we would have reached the magic 150. Not bad for an old girl.

  2. Lubed chain and hard/touring tyre does the trick.

  3. Must have had a fair bit of work to get those numbers....and nothing ever happened without pics of the dyno chart

  4. Chris at CJS did the headwork and fuelling, I have just rebuilt it after dropping a rod so did a bit of fiddling. Im more impressed with the torque curve than the power. It showed 143 on CJS dyno, and about 145 on this dyno before the rebuild. The red curves are from an 853R 11.jpg

  5. Whats the torque on the 853 and the 996?

  6. That's a very impressive torque ( and power) curve.

  7. Think the 996 was around 86 ft/lb. the 853 about 77

  8. mmmm, not bad. my 853r was 84.

  9. My old std sps made 78lb ft and 128 on same day a R made 130 and 75 and a T9R 138 and 80 ish

The sps was still more of an animal tho! Yours must be mental

  10. Its lost a bit of the bottom end civility as the rods were replaced with 998RS ones and the crank has been substantially lightened, but on the upside it revs like you wouldn't believe
